My child is always well behaved at school but at home they can be challenging. Why?
A lot of children who find school challenging for one reason or another manage their behaviour at school and let out their anxiety or frustration at home. The school day is quite long and children can be tired and need to express their feelings at the end of the day.
If this is the case, try to give your child some space when they get home. Do not question them immediately about their day and let them relax with a favourite activity. When they are calm, as them if they would like to talk to you about their day and accept their response.
Sometimes there could be another reason why your child is behaving like this. Please talk to your child’s class teacher, Pastoral Support Manager, or SENDCo, or visit the Wellbeing Café where we can suggest other strategies or support.
